Situated to the north of Doha, Lusail is a new city with a projected population of 200,000, extending over an area of 35 sqkm. The city will provide a high quality living environment by combining well-planned residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use and entertainment districts, balanced with open spaces and parks. Foster + Partners has been working with Qatari Diar on a mixed-use commercial scheme that forms the heart of the development. Underpinning the scheme is a successful working relationship between Foster + Partners and Qatari Diar, and the design process has been a highly efficient creative collaboration. Situated at the centre of the city, the scheme comprises four commercial towers with 450,000sqm of offices, together with 100,000sqm retail and offices in surrounding low-rise buildings, as well as basement parking areas. Varying in height, the four towers create a distinctive and bold profile on the city’s skyline. They are elegantly sculpted to maximise views towards the sea and take full advantage of natural light.
